Explore Your Summer Options

Camp Fair season is upon us once again. For us, that means going deep in the storage closet to pull out our table cover, wristbands and pens, preparing a couple of computers with our favorite games, movies, and cartoons, piling up brochures and the nice display stand they sit in, and figuring out just how many business cards is too many to bring along.

For you, this is a chance to see what different Summer programs are available. Even though we think PlanetBravo's Techno-tainment Summer Camp is as good as it gets, even we like to take a look and see what else is out there. Personally, every time I hear something about a secret agent camp, the little kid inside me perks up with interest.

So for those of you who are interested, here are a couple of camp fairs PlanetBravo will be attending:
And of course, there are several great websites we use year-round that list all sorts of camps. I would recommend checking out http://www.kidscamps.com/ and http://www.campchannel.com/ if you can't make it to a camp fair.

And like I said before, after you take a look at what's out there, we hope you choose PlanetBravo to give your child an amazing summer camp experience.

Until next time,

Keep on Thumpin'!

Spring Break Update

March is here, and that means two things to me: March Madness, and Spring Break Camp. For the purposes of this post, I'll set aside my excitement over my Syracuse Orange currently being ranked #1 in the nation and focus specifically on the incredible things PlanetBravo has going on for three weeks this Spring in Palos Verdes at the Terranea Resort and West LA at Brockton Avenue School.

You read that right...THREE WEEKS! We have added an extra week of camp at our Palos Verdes location. So that means as long as your break happens sometime between March 29 and April 16, you can attend Techno-tainment camp!

And speaking of "three"s, we are offering our THREE NEWEST CLASSES during spring break: LEGO-Motion for our younger campers, and Special Effects and Multiplayer Video Game Design for the older ones. All three of these classes are being premiered for the very first time this Spring, so don't miss out on the chance to be the first to try them!

Now, I know for a lot of people, Spring Break is a time for fun in the sun with family on a vacation. Well we thought about that, and PlanetBravo is offering you the PERFECT PACKAGE. Sign your child up for camp at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, and you will be rewarded with a code for a discounted room rate at the resort. You'll be able to enjoy all the incredible amenities of a luxurious resort while your child is learning and having a blast in a PlanetBravo classroom!

And don't forget, signing up for Spring Break Camp instantly gives you a discounted rate for every week of Summer Camp! So why wait?

REGISTER FOR SPRING BREAK CAMP NOW!
(...and don't forget about Summer)

Keep on Thumpin'.

Tuesday Teacher

It is once again time for another Tuesday Teacher interview! This time, I'm going to interview...me! I started getting jealous of all my friends that I've been featuring up here on the blog, and decided that it's my turn to tell you all about me. But I'm still going to do it from the third person to seem professional. So let's get to know Harry Shafer, camp name Thumper, who's been with PlanetBravo since the Summer of 2008.

Q. What do you do for PlanetBravo?
A. Currently I work in the office doing web design and marketing, as well as teach after school classes at the UCLA Lab School and Devonshire Youth Center in Northridge. When Summer rolls around, this year I'll be a camp director.

Q. What is your favorite thing to teach, be it a class or surprise seminar?
A. My favorite class to teach is definitely Fusion. Even after 3 years, I'm still having a blast playing with that program, and I love sharing my enthusiasm with the kids. As far as Surprise Seminars go, I know a couple easy to do but really cool looking magic tricks that I love to show off and teach.

Q. What is your favorite game in Network Game Time?
A. That would have to be TrackMania. Last year, I made it my goal to beat every single level in the game. It took me all 6 weeks, but I was finally able to do it!

Q. Tell us something about you that not many people know.
A. My camp name Thumper is a name given to me by my mom. My full name is Harry T. Shafer. Though T. is my legal middle name, it actually stands for Thumper. When my mom told me that story, I thought it was so cool, I got my secret nickname and now camp name tattooed on my back!

Q. What is one of your favorite memories from working with PlanetBravo?
A. Last Summer, Ash and I got together to make "Do the Bravo", an official song and dance for everyone at PB to enjoy. I had so much fun teaching it to all the kids at my Santa Monica location, but one of my favorite memories was using Skype to connect with Leo and his campers down in El Segundo to watch their version of the dance.

PlanetBravo Update

Hey, everyone!

I know you're probably used to my Friday posts being Surprise Seminars, but you'll have to wait one more week for that. There's just been so much going on for us recently that I had to take a moment to let you all know. Consider this a "State of the Bravo" address, or maybe a Digital Fireside Chat. So just stick with me for a moment as I get all "bragadocious" and tell you what we've been up to.

Our daytime classes are in full swing for the second semester, taking on topics like photo montages, movie production, journalism, podcasts, and so much more. Scratch Programming is once again back in action in the classroom, putting MIT-created programming software to use for elementary school students.

Programming classes are also making their debut at a new after-school location in Northridge. PB enrichment classes are back at Brockton Avenue School, Grant Elementary School, UCLA Lab School, and starting for the first time at Point Dume Elementary School in Malibu as well. All of these locations feature some of our best instructors offering some of our favorite classes to all the interested students.

Now before you get too upset thinking about how PlanetBravo courses aren't offered in your school, don't forget that our Spring Break Camps are just around the corner, and Techno-tainment Summer Camp is only a few months away. Spring Break Camp will now be running for 3 weeks at two locations, Palos Verdes and West LA, offering our 3 newest classes. Techno-tainment Summer Camp will be offering a dozen different courses at a dozen locations across LA, and even Ventura County.

It's also about to be Camp Fair time for us here in the office. Starting next week we'll be popping up at several locations all over Los Angeles, bringing our fliers, tables, computers, and cameras to let everyone know about PlanetBravo and what we have to offer. If you happen to see us out there, don't hesitate to stop by and say hi and grab yourself a free wristband if you'd like.

Whew. That was a lot! Like I said, we have a whole lot going on these days, and we couldn't be more excited. If you made it this far, thanks so much for reading. If you just jumped to the end, go back and read the rest of it before you accept my thanks.

And to everybody, we look forward to seeing you in a classroom soon!

Keep on Thumpin'.
